The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has sworn that his organization will oppose members of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in the Southeast.
Kanu made the statement while claiming that members of the DCP Abba Kyari-led Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team had killed cultists and identified them as Eastern Security Network, or ESN, agents.

The head of IPOB insisted that ESN agents were not cult members and would never be put to death.

Through IPOB Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful, Kanu stated that the organization will not put up with security guards abusing young Igbo people.

Kanu claimed that Abba Kyari and his soldiers had invaded Imo State and set fire to a number of communities.

Kanu stated in a Powerful statement:

“It is regrettable that DCP Abba Kyari and associates are murdering members of cults and making them respond to ESN; the individual they are portraying as ESN is not and never will be one of our members.

“Two months ago, the two cult groups engaged in combat, killing one another, and burning two of their members to the ground. Sadly, one of them was discovered in Owerri by Abba Kyari and his crew, who then labeled him as an unknown gunman and ESN.

“Three communities in Mbaitoli LGA, Imo State, have been invaded by Nigerian security agencies led by DCP Abba Kyari, who set fire to properties valued at millions of naira dollars.”

ESN should be stationed in Southeast forests, the IPOB chairman insisted, in order to combat “terrorists and killer herdsmen.”

He continued, saying:

“These crimes have continued for far too long, but we will no longer put up with them.

“For this cowardly act of victimizing innocent Igbo youths, we promise them hell.”
