Residents and drivers in the Olodo community in the Egbeda Local Government Area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, have beseeched Governor Seyi Makinde to step in as the only other route available to facilitate people’s movement has been destroyed by flooding as a result of heavy rain that fell early on Thursday.

Alabareports discovered that the sole route between Ibadan, the state capital, and Iwo in Osun State is the destroyed bridge.

Nevertheless, the flood that spilled and carried away the bridge left hundreds of commuters, tourists, and locals using the alternate bridge stranded.

PUNCH claims that because of the water, there is a lot of traffic and drivers must wait for hours in order to cross the bridge.

Abasi Olayemi, a commercial driver, stated, “We went through a similar situation last year, and the rain had just started.” To help finish the road on schedule, we are pleading with the government and the contractor.

“I was to join my colleagues at somewhere around Gbagi for a business trip to Abuja, but I have missed now,” stated a local, Lekan Anjorin. I’m going to return home and turn in.

Concurrently, the state government awarded a contract for the repair of the federal Ibadan-Iwo Road, and the contractor in charge of the bridge gave the government assurances that the first phase of the two-phase span would be finished early this year.
