The Okhide family was reportedly thrust into mourning after their 23-year-old son, Michael, fatally stabbed his parents, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
However, the family asked the media to avoid sensationalizing their reporting of the story in a statement released on Tuesday, particularly if the reports were founded on false information.

The family described the occurrence as tragic and distressing for the family in a statement signed by Master Stephen Okhide, Miss Ayooluwa Okhide, and Dr. Abiola Odeyinka, the deceased’s children.

It begged for the public’s understanding and assistance during this tough and trying time for the family, noting that drug abuse and mental illness were widespread issues that needed to be addressed by teamwork.
We are grieving the loss of our beloved parents, who loved us and provided us with the best support a child could ask for, therefore this is a delicate subject for us.

“This incident hurts us deeply once more, and we strongly ask the public and media to stop sensationalizing it further,”

The declaration stated.

Recall that Michael was the target of a manhunt, according to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Bala Elkana, who also stated that the bodies were taken to the Isolo General Hospital for evacuation.
