How Can You Love A Thief? – Seun Kuti Berates Wives Of Politicians For Not Divorcing Husbands Over ‘Stealing’

Grammy-nominated afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has chastised Nigerian politician’s wives for not filing for divorce in spite of their husbands’ ongoing embezzlement of public cash.

During a recent Instagram live session, Seun asked why they were in love.

He bemoaned the avarice of Nigerian politicians and questioned how their spouses could possibly still love them.

“You cannot witness a Nigerian woman divorcing a Nigerian politician for embezzlement,” he declared. Can a thief be loved? Someone who is obviously thieving, not because he is in need of anything.

“It makes sense if he went out to steal to support his family because he was hungry. However, despite their affluence, these politicians’ avarice continues to destroy millions of lives.

He asserted that a large number of these accused kidnappers were actually police officials who led the cell as ringleaders.

The musician went on to say that certain Nigerians had been abducted by the police and were being forced to pay ransom demands made by the kidnappers.

Police demands for bail have been compared by Seun to ransom payments, with the argument that people are effectively being kidnapped by the government if they are required to pay for their release.

Additionally, he brought up the case of infamous kidnapper Evans, who was formerly referred to as the “number 1 kidnap kingpin,” emphasizing that even after his capture, abduction incidents continued, indicating a potential problem with the legal system as a whole.
