The bandits, who kidnapped passengers on a train headed for Kaduna last month, have threatened to kill them if their demands are not met by the federal government.
The armed men stated in a video that was made public on Wednesday that they had no interest in receiving money and that the Federal Government was aware of their requests.

In the little over two-minute video, four bandits were seen holding Mr. Alwan Hassan, the managing director of the Bank of Agriculture, one of the passengers who had been kidnapped.

Speaking in Hausa, one of them indicated that the MD was released because of his age and the spirit of Ramadan.

The terrorists, dressed in military uniforms, were captured on camera at the Forward Operational Base in Polwire, Birnin Gwari, Kaduna, according to Daily Trust.

We are the group responsible for the train kidnapping a few days ago. Among them is an elderly man who was pleading with us; we felt sorry for him because it was Ramadan, therefore we wish to return him to his family.

“However, the government must not misinterpret this; it is a gesture we made out of sympathy for him.”

The MD was then invited to say a few words by the bandits. Hassan said in a brief statement that he was freed out of sympathy.

“I want everyone to know that, despite my advanced age, they showed compassion for me.
