Oloye Ademola Dare-Williams, the group’s chairman, voiced concerns about juvenile use of hard drugs during the center’s inaugural ceremony.

14.4 million individuals in Nigeria use hard drugs, according to the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime Control, which also identified Oyo State as a significant cannabis grower and user in the nation.

The revelation was made by UN Representative Mrs. Foluso Ajayi during the opening of a behavioral initiative center, which was organized by O’First, a sociocultural organization in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

The center was established with the specific goal of treating, guiding, and counseling young people abusing hard drugs in Ogbomoso and the surrounding areas, as well as providing rehabilitation and related services.

Mustapha asserted that Nigeria will not be successful in its fight against hard drug consumption until its citizens take up the fight against their own use of the substances, through the representation of Mr. Femi Oloruntoba, Chief of Staff.

Additionally, Mr. Lanre Funsho, the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Elimination of Drug consumption (PACEDA), noted that one of the main causes of drug consumption and illicit trafficking is the fast decline in cultural norms and values.

He applauded O’First for taking the effort to confront the drug misuse problem head-on and urged other organizations to work with PACEDA to combat the problem.

Oloye Ademola Dare-Williams, the group’s chairman, voiced concerns over the use of hard drugs during the center’s inaugural ceremony.
