Reporting!! Three Arraigned Over Alleged Theft Of Maggi Seasoning Worth N50m

Three men were brought before a Lagos magistrates court in Ikeja, where they were accused of stealing N50 million worth of Maggi seasoning from 3,000 cartons.

Allegations of conspiracy and theft have been made against Emmanuel Akpan (38), Tasiu Aliu (27), and Usman Hassan (48). The alleged offenses are said to have occurred on December 15, 2023, at Engineering Close, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Akpan, a logistics agent, arranged for a vehicle to deliver the 3,000 cartons of Terra Maggi seasoning that belonged to TGI Distribution Company to Kaduna State, according to the prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Odugbo.

The products were transported by his motor boy, Hassan, and driver Aliu. They turned off their cell phones, so attempts to locate them after they left were unsuccessful.
To the charges, the defendants entered a not guilty plea. They were each given bail of N5 million by Magistrate Mrs. M. O. Popoola, along with two sureties in an equivalent amount. The trial in this case is postponed until March 20.
