Reporting!! Shock In Akwa Ibom State As Gunmen Invade Hospital, Kidnap Doctor On Duty

A gunman had broken into the Ikot Ekpa Cottage hospital in the Mkpat Enin Local Government area of Akwa Ibom State and taken a senior medical official named Felix Ekpo hostage.
The event occurred on Tuesday, according to a statement released to media in Uyo on Wednesday by Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, Secretary of the State chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association.

The group said it was in contact with pertinent security agencies in the State to ensure the safety and unconditional release of the kidnapped doctor, while also advising its members to stay composed and vigilant at their job posts.

The association threatened to take down its operations if the victim was not freed within 48 hours and urged the State Government to look into the situation.

In light of this, we sincerely ask that the government use all of its sophisticated security apparatus to focus on the pressing and vital mission of freeing Dr. Ekpo, a government employee who was abducted while performing his official duties and was kidnapped in the course of doing so.
