In an attempt to overturn the earlier decision of the same court that declared their elections illegal, the 16 dismissed members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal.

Alabareports remembers that the Court of Appeal declared the election of every PDP representative in the State Assembly to be invalid due to the party’s alleged inability to organize and support candidates.

Bala Fwanje Ndat and Datugun Paul Naankot are among the dismissed legislators who contend in their notice motion with suit Nos. CA/J/33M/2024 and CA/J/31/M/2024 that they should be restored to the House in accordance with Order 6, Rule 1 of the Court of Appeal, 2021.

They claimed in their motions, filed through their attorney Garba Paul, SAN, that the Court of Appeal and the electoral tribunal lacked subject matter jurisdiction.
