The distribution of food goods that have been confiscated will start on Friday, according to a statement from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) (today).

The NCS Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi, revealed that customs officers are not permitted to be involved in the procedure in a statement given to media in Lagos.

Adeniyi said in a statement released by the service’s National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, that the rice will be sold for N10,000 and wrapped in 25kg sacks.

Within its operational areas, he added, the target groups were fellow Nigerians, religious organizations, teachers, nurses, and artisans.

The goal, he explained, is to ensure that this endeavor is as effective as possible by establishing direct communication with members through these organized methods.

Adeniyi issued a warning about selling food again.

“Any individuals or entities found to be in violation of the terms of this program will face swift and decisive action from us.”

“We are here to highlight the NCS’s dedication to safeguarding our community by making sure that basic food necessities are available. The administration has been tackling the problems with our economy in recent months.

“A large amount of merchandise is being shipped to nearby nations. Among the commodities were 963 bags of dried fish, 2,500 cartons, and more than 20,000 bags of various cereals.

“Others include macaroni, sugar, salt, garri, tomatoes, cooking oil, and dried pepper. The NCS Comptroller General declared, “This trend is not sustainable as it puts pressure on our productive capacity and threatens our food security.”
