CAN Youth Wing Calls For Immediate Arrest, Prosecution Of Cleric For Hate Speech Targeting Oluremi Tinubu

Idris Abdulaziz Dusen Tenshi is a Muslim cleric. The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has called for his immediate arrest and public legal action.
According to reports, the cleric was calling for the assassination of President Oluremi Tinubu’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, calling her a “infidel” due to her Christian beliefs.

This demand was made on Friday at the National Christian Center in Abuja at the 2024 National Prayer Day and the First Quarter National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of YOWICAN.

In an official correspondence, YOWICAN Chairman Belusochukwu Enwere expressed the council’s collective position and emphasized the urgent need for government and security agencies to step in.

A portion of the statement said, “NEC is calling for the Muslim Cleric (Idris Abdulaziz) to be arrested immediately.”

“The NEC is directing the Federal Government and security agencies to take immediate action in order to prevent the unguided statement/utterance from further worsening the security situation in the nation.”

The NEC meeting also covered a wide range of national issues, such as the economic hardships that citizens are facing in the face of rising living expenses and the deteriorating security environment brought on by a high number of homicides in the nation.

In order to address youth unemployment, YOWICAN highlighted the employment situation and urged the government to implement certain policies. They also emphasized the importance of including young people in the nation’s development efforts.
