In the North-West region of Nigeria, terrorists known locally as bandits abducted no less than twenty-six travelers on Tuesday, blocking the Gusau-Sokoto highway.
A resident of one of the nearby communities corroborated this to journalists during the course of the interview.

According to information obtained, terrorists kidnapped every passenger from a Volkswagen golf and a Toyota 18-seater bus as well as blocked the route around Kwaren Kirya hamlet, which is located in Zamfara State’s Maru Local Government Area.

Approximately half an hour prior to me speaking with you, these robbers had blocked the other side of the street. The source was cited by Channels TV as saying, “They cleared the passengers of an 18-seater bus and a golf. The situation is worrisome because it has become an everyday thing for these people to be blocking the road.”

He raised the alert about a potential bandit haven near the highway, the village of Balge.

In order to keep an eye on the criminals’ movements, the source pleaded with the authorities to erect security posts nearby.

“There’s a village called Balge when you pass that Kwaren Kirya; bandits make up about 80% of the villagers there.”

They were once driven from the area, although the vast bulk of the occupants were robbers. All we need is for the government to assist us and erect military installations nearby.

State police have not yet commented on the most recent occurrence.
