Temitope Fadeshemi, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, estimates that 88.4 million people in Nigeria are living in extreme poverty.

According to Alabareports, Fadeshemi revealed this information on Wednesday when providing farming materials to 250 smallholder farmers in Kaduna.

According to him, the event marked a significant turning point in the Federal Government’s overall initiatives to support sustainable farming practices and better the lot of smallholder farmers.

“The degree of poverty in Nigeria is concerning,” he remarked. In Nigeria, there are an estimated 88.4 million people who live in extreme poverty.

There are around 44.7 million men and 43.7 million women in the nation who earn less than $1.90 USD each day.
