The Presidency has cautioned against a lot of the hate spewing, incitement to violence and the polarizing utterances by so-called political figures as a number of states gird up for additional elections prescribed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It also rejected unfair and ludicrous charges of President Muhammadu Buhari’s seeming apathy in the impending elections in some states by party members who mistakenly presume that the President will abuse power by manipulating outcomes to benefit them.

It was also mentioned in a statement by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, that certain previous Nigerian presidents had a history of meddling in elections that ended in ties.
“But President Buhari is a different kind of leader,” he continued. He made a vow to uphold the constitution, and he won’t break it.

“The President of Nigeria is not granted any such powers by the constitution. Criticizing President Buhari for not violating the constitution is both unjust and absurd.
