Notable Nigerian artist Timaya has shared the reason behind his departure from Port Harcourt, advising fellow musician Burna Boy to follow suit.

In a recent interview, Timaya discussed his reasons for leaving Port Harcourt, the place where he was born and bred, and he counseled other musicians to do the same.
Timaya provided evidence to support the adage that a prophet is not welcome in his hometown by disclosing how, after becoming well-known, he nearly died there.

I was born in Bayelsa, but in Port Harcourt. I grew up in Port Harcourt, where I was born. Oddly enough, I never called Bayelsa home. I spent my entire childhood growing up in Port Harcourt.
