Stanley Nwabali forces return ahead of AFCON quarter finals

Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali seems unwilling to stay sidelined as the Super Eagles’ AFCON quarter-final match with Angola approaches.

Already, the stopper is putting pressure on officials, but an update from the medical personnel suggested that the division will not allow a bad event to be repeated.
A video was previously released showing the goalkeeper undergoing what looked like a training session. There have been positive reactions spreading on the internet before a member of the team’s medical team said the following:
‘What you saw in the video is a fitness test and not full training that is why he was alone. The other goalkeepers were drilled separately, so it’s wrong to say he trained fully.
‘Our decision will be made after analysis of his condition after today’s test.’
Home fans desire to see Nwabali on the pitch against Angola on February 2, following loss of trust in the other option, Uzoho.
However, the official added that bad history might be repeated if Nwabali were allowed to play without proper checkup.
‘Life is a learning curve and after the incident with Sadiq Umar when a player says he is fit to play and wants to play the surest thing is a fitness test.
‘He came through today, so let’s see him again and again because the scan result didn’t help at all.
‘Professionally we will do what is best because if he aggravates it then there is a tendency that he might miss the rest of the year.’
Angola walks into the pitch from a 3–0 victory over Namibia, while Nigeria struck Cameroon 2–0 in the same knockout round.
The Super Eagles are the favourites ahead of the match, with Angola hoping to register an upset.
