Production crew not yet paid; Burna Boy cancels gig in South Africa

Burna Boy, a well-known Afrobeat singer from Nigeria, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has canceled his much-anticipated concert in South Africa.

On September 23, 2023, the concert was slated to take place in Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium.

Speaking about the situation, Burna Boy’s management released a statement on Tuesday stating that the event was canceled due to the promoters’ failure to fulfill their commitments.

The management offered an apology to his fans and guaranteed a refund for every ticket purchased.

“Unfortunately, despite the hard work of my team, we must notify you that the show scheduled for September 23 in Johannesburg will not go forward due to the promoters’ failure to meet their contractual, production, financial, and technical responsibilities.

Production suppliers still haven’t been paid, and as a result, it is now clear that the production standard that was agreed upon is insufficient for this size of venue.

“We sincerely apologize to all of the fans. Every ticketing company needs to make sure that you get a full refund. Anticipating to meet you all shortly,” it stated.
