Two suspected armed robbers have been apprehended by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command and two locally made pistols, and five cartridges have been recovered from them.

It was gathered that the two male suspects are one Abraham Kalizibe-43 years, and Abadi Prosper aged18.

A statement, issued on Thursday by the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, read “Following a tip-off by a community leader, operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of Bayelsa State Police Command arrested one Abraham Kalizibe ‘m’ 34 years, a native of Etegwe Community, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

“The suspect is a member of a notorious armed robbery gang terrorising Yenagoa and its environs.

“Upon interrogation the suspect, he confessed to series of armed robbery operations and led police detectives to the armed robbery gang’s armourer, one Abadi Prosper ‘m’ 18 years, where two locally made pistols and five cartridges were recovered.”

The Suspects are undergoing interrogation and will soon be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
