Nigerians are being driven to the breaking point in a nation that is infamous for its poor social services, massive unemployment, and low pay. These days, price increases almost happen every day. From roughly N35,000 a year ago, a bag of 60kg of rice is presently about N75,000. Similar costs apply to garri, beans, fruits, vegetables, cooking oil, and seasonings. Drinks and water are not overlooked. It makes no difference if these products are made locally or imported.
In response to the Federal Government’s inability to carry out the agreements made following the withdrawal of the gasoline subsidy, the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria issued a 14-day ultimatum for strikes on Thursday.
