Grammy Award-winning Producer Swizz Beatz Reveals How He Introduced Wizkid And Burna Boy To America

Legendary producer Swizz Beatz discussed how he and his wife Alicia Keys were the ones to first introduce two of the biggest afrobeats artists now active, Wizkid and Burna Boy, to America in a recent podcast ’roundtable’ on Amazon Prime.
Swizz Beatz said that he and his wife gave the first public performance of Wizkid’s “Ojuelegba” in 2015. He also described how he had welcomed Burna Boy to the stage at the musician’s first large US appearance.

He acknowledged that people started to think of him as being too African as he started to listen to more Fela Kuti and general afrobeats.
