Enugu govt suspends Aninri’s health worker over negligence

Pascaline Njoku, a community health extension worker at Ameke Health Centre in Aninri Local Council, has been suspended by the Enugu State Government due to neglect and duty neglect.This occurred as Dr. Ifeyinwa Ani-Osheku, the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ESPHCDA), urged expectant mothers to forgo using traditional delivery attendants and cautioned them about the risks involved.
Njoku was suspended as a result of the ESPHCDA’s report and conclusions about her unapproved leave of absence from work and neglect of patient care.
During the announcement of the decision to suspend the health worker in order to conduct a thorough investigation, Dr. Ani-Osheku stated that Njoku’s absence from work caused a woman named Mrs. Emeka Nkemdirim to give birth to twins while traveling in a car.to an Awgu private hospital.
Ani-Osheku stated that the new administration has been working nonstop to improve the working conditions and welfare of health professionals in the state. She requested that all healthcare workers remain on their duty stations.
She praised Governor Peter Mbah for making sure that the state’s workers’ needs come first, stating that Njoku’s actions went against both the present administration’s values and the ethics of the profession
