24-year-old Sentenced To 90 Years In Prison For Raping And Killing Swedish Missionary

On January 5, a 24-year-old guy named Chris Wanjala was convicted guilty of the brutal murder of Swedish missionary Lilian Bourcart, 74.
The Swedish Missionary employed Wanjala, who was found guilty of killing, raping, and forcefully robbing his ex-employee, who oversaw a children’s home and carried out charitable work in Kitale, Trans Nzoia county’s Milimani estate.

He reportedly carried out the crime two years ago. Chief Magistrate Julius Ng’arng’ar who sentenced Wanjala to 90 years in prison, said the judgement was necessary taking into account the brutality used to commit the offence.

The sentencing of Wanjala’s co-accused, Dominic Nyongesa, was deferred pending his age assessment.

The prosecution on its own part, said that the duo deserved maximum sentence since it is a capital offence, so as to act as a lesson to others.
