Because several tipper drivers barricaded Gusau-Sokoto route in protest of their state chairman Aminu Garba’s detention, commuters and drivers have been stuck on the route for several hours.
The demonstrators said it was unlawful for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) to have detained their State Chairman and a few other members.

They mentioned that their actions caused the route to be blocked so they could file their complaints.

When reached, Alhaji Aminu Garba, the union’s state chairman, stated that several of his members had been detained by NSCDC agents and that he had begged for their release but it had been denied.
However, Shehu Abba, the state commandant of the NSCDC, claimed that those detained were thought to have participated in illicit mining, which prompted the corps to send some of its agents to the scene.

“Even though they were released from custody, the arrested individuals are anticipated to meet with NSCDC staff to discuss further investigations,”

He stated.
