Prominent Nigerian activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has lambasted President Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo, former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Tinubu and the service chiefs over the increasing rate of oil theft in the country.

In a recent statement released on his social media platforms, Sowore said, “It is sad to see our country’s resources being stolen in broad daylight while our leaders do nothing to stop it. Our oil resources, which could be used to develop our country, are being stolen to enrich a few people while the majority of Nigerians suffer in abject poverty. This is a crime against our nation and our people, and our leaders must do something to stop it.”

Sowore argued that President Buhari and his administration should take decisive action to stop the theft by deploying more troops and resources to the Niger Delta, where most of the thefts are occurring. He also urged the Service Chiefs to take a more proactive approach in tackling the issue.

In addition, Sowore called on Tinubu, who is a major political figure in the country, to lend his voice to the fight against oil theft.

Sowore concluded his statement by saying, “We must all stand together to fight this menace and hold those responsible to account. We cannot allow our resources to be stolen and our nation to suffer while our leaders do nothing.”
